The position serves as a Bilingual Program Support Assistant (OA) within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), National Cemetery Administration (NCA), Field Programs, National Cemetery Scheduling Office in St. Louis, MO. The incumbent serves as the primary contact for the Veteran and their representative and acts as the first contact for burial in Va National Cemeteries nationwide.
Duties
The incumbent, as a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Program Support Assistant, is primarily responsible for answering incoming telephone calls and processing requests for burial in a National Cemetery. The incumbent will work in a contact center environment and provide program support in the accomplishment of a variety of administrative duties essential to the operation of the National Cemetery Scheduling Office. The Bilingual Program Support Assistant (OA) performs a variety of clerical and technical support to the administrative, logistical, and analytical activities related to the interment of qualified veterans, their spouses, and dependent children at the National Cemetery Administration Scheduling Office. Performs extensive public contact by telephone, and at times, in person, often requiring the ability to deal with decedents' immediate family in times of emotional crisis. The nature of a cemetery and the manner in which different people view death requires great sensitivity. This position requires the ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
This position requires the ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both Spanish and English.
Work schedule: Required to work one of the following shifts, as assigned by management. May include federal holidays and weekends. Shift will be assigned based on staffing needs.

You may qualify based on your experience, as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to analyzing data; preparing graphs, charts, presentations, maintaining a database system; tracking and logging expense items; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and scheduling conferences; establishing and maintaining an efficient filing and reference system for all files; using automated data processing equipment to generate a variety of reports; typing letters, memos, reports, etc. in final form; processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; establishing priorities and setting deadlines; providing an interpretation of policies; gathering data; preparing reports, and making recommendations; develop findings, recommendations, and justifications, etc.
