Duties
As an Emergency Management Specialist you will:
Coordinate and Develop Plans. While serving in the Plans, Exercise and Evaluation Branch (PXE), coordinate the collective participation from across CDC to develop Plans, Training Exercises and Response support through the leadership and guidance of ORR/ DEO to support daily preparedness and response activities for CDC.
Oversee the development, maintenance and implementation of emergency response operational plans, protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidance that provides an effective, organized, coordinated and orderly Agency response to public health incidents.
Provide direction and management of necessary to coordinate with CDC Subject Matter Experts to develop comprehensive emergency response procedures for all-hazards events, including nuclear/radiological, biological, chemical, technological/cyber, man-made, natural, and environmental disasters.
Design a strategic plan for meeting the Agency goals and objectives for emergency preparedness, assuring NIMS compliance, responder training and production of quality operational planning.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level, which must include experience leading and managing the development and implementation of all-hazards plans; develop strategies and practices related to public health emergency management; managing, coordination and executing public health preparedness and response and recovery activities
Documenting Experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
