The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Registered Nurse to serve in Employee / Patient Experience Service (EPES). The incumbent is responsible for monitoring the medical center's Patient Satisfaction programs at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System (VANEOHS). The work includes maintenance of data quality and ensuring timely and accurate data related to patient satisfaction within VANEOHS.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Data Analysis Perform analysis of patient experience data to identify trends, irregularities, evaluating and advising management of the effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization, information management, and patient experience interventions, makes recommendations and ensures comprehensive documentation regarding all data produced. Utilize a comprehensive Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and tools to analyze program, organizational, and mission performance; including methods that deliver key performance information (for example, comparative, trend, diagnostic, root cause, predictive) used to inform decisions, actions, communications, and accountability systems. Functions as a member of the Analytics and Nursing Performance Improvement team, by integrating nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage, analyze and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice. Data Management and Design: Access and work with Survey of Healthcare of Patients (SHEP), Press Ganey, VSignals and Strategic Analysis for Improvement and Learning (SAIL). Utilize Word, Excel, Power point and other computer software programs sufficient to retrieve and display data and assists others in the service. Design and build data files in Microsoft Excel, Pyramid Analytics / Power BI, Power Apps, and SQL Report Builder, and Qualtrics surveys as needed. Manage and coordinate complex assignments independently in a variety of software packages. Develop requirements for a new application, advocating the utilization of standard terminologies, tailoring an application to a particular environment, describing information flow in a process redesign, creating newly re-engineered processes, or creating a structure for information presentation. Will develop and maintain databases providing a central repository for information that can be accessed by leadership and shared throughout the system. Review, analyze and manage a variety of Surveys such as (SHEP), Press Ganey, VSignals and SAIL. Report writing Provide comprehensive written reports to include data analysis, data dashboards and written explanations, suggestions for improvement advising management of the effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization, information management, and patient experience outcomes. Communication and Customer experience Consult and discuss with appropriate VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System staff to initiate, design, and execute projects in support of development of data needs and collaborating effectively with complex and competing activities. Interpret, explain, and apply technical requirements and specifications to quality problems encountered in such activities as procedures evaluation, process audits, product inspections, or investigations of defects. Conduct interviews with supervisors and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, and work procedures. Assist / guide Unit Practice Councils and other committees with process improvement projects. Assist with and help manage Patient Experience Programs and projects. Training Develop training materials or other tools to assist employees, program managers, and service chiefs in utilizing and understanding analytical data and reports produced to include SAIL, SHEP, VSignals and Press Ganey, Pyramid Analytics, Excel, Power BI, SharePoint and VSSC Reports. Facilitate and coach teams in process improvement. Facilitate or assist with Patient Experience / Customer Service-related programs such as VA Voices, UPC Implementation and network sessions. Other duties assigned. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience. Note regarding MSN degrees: If your MSN was obtained via a Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration, a BSN is not required. Preferred Experience: Bachelors degree Required, Masters preferred. (Preferably, in informatics and analytics) 3 years Nursing experience 2 years Data Management and Analytics experience. Resume must illustrate experience with Microsoft Excel and Dashboard Design. Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and tools of data analysis, and management, such as modeling techniques, data backup, recovery, dictionaries, warehousing, mining, disposal, security, governance, and data standardization processes, and report writing. Demonstrates ability to mentor, train, network and build relationships with others. Is a self-starter, plays a pivotal role in organization's success by consistently demonstrating a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and knowledge. Experience in researching, planning, implementing and successfully completing special projects for individual departments, units and or organization utilizing a variety of platforms with outcomes provided to include experience leading process improvement projects (lean or lean six sigma), experience designing, administering, and analyzing surveys Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and knowledge sharing. Self-motivated and results-oriented mindset, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
