The Training Technician serves as Training Instructor in Social Work Service for the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior Program providing a range of education and training to staff within South Texas Veterans HealthCare System and associated activities, programs and related committees including the Disruptive Behavior Committee, Code Green Team, Critical Incident Response Team, Workplace Violence Prevention Program, and the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior Program.

Duties

The incumbent will serve as a nationally certified Master Trainer for the PMDB program and be responsible for providing the complete scope and knowledge of PMDB and Violence Prevention education to staff of the entire STVHCS facility, CBOC's, and outpatient clinics in regularly scheduled PMDB training courses. The incumbent will provide assistance with coordinating and managing all training activities associated with the PMDB Program and will seek to ensure that all employees receive appropriate and required levels of PMDB training on an annual basis at the level designated. The incumbent will provide assistance with the Code Green or other Incident Responses Teams (BERT/BRRT/CIRT) ensuring that all areas of the hospital have adequate support for managing disruptive behaviors. In conjunction with the PMDB Coordinator, participates in the development and/or revision of course materials and computer-based training modules. Performs duties involving the testing of students with responsibility for planning, scheduling and administering selected measures. Promotes awareness of and arranges access to a range of face-to-face PMDB and Violence Prevention educational activities. Coordinates scheduling and resources for all PMDB and Behavioral Risk training including the coordination of classes in the Training Management System (TMS), submitting appropriate documentation to the Employee Education System (EES), and scheduling appropriate facility trainers to meet training requirements. Performs activities directly related to educational tracking processes, including development and oversight of manual and/or automated registration/sign in processes. The incumbent will check and collect data related to incidents of disruptive or disorderly behavior and sexual assaults using a Disruptive Behavior Reporting System (DBRS) and Excel or similar software Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Flex schedule available) Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/06/2023 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: presenting ideas clearly both orally and in writing to effectively present findings and make recommendations in briefings, projects, staff reports, correspondence, etcetera; AND applying principles, methods, practices, and techniques of simulation education and debriefing techniques in a virtual environment while using instructional methods to allow employees to practice needed skills. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Lifting and carrying up to and over 45 pounds; Pushing, Reaching above shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, kneeling, twisting, repeated bending, climbing with use of legs and arms; use of both legs; sitting, simple grasping, fine motor skills, keyboarding.
