Duties
Perform the full range of procedural work of the office.
Maintain subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the department.
Receive visitors and telephone calls to the office, determines the nature of requests and directs callers to appropriate staff.
Personally providing information desired when routine or procedural matters of the office are involved.
Check on their availability and confirms appointment.
Reschedule appointments upon the request of supervisor or staff member.
Review incoming correspondence, screening material prior to distribution for suspense dates, establishing controls, and following up for supervisor.
Use current software programs to type correspondence, spreadsheets, graphs, and presentations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with clerical duties such as, any of the following, scheduling meetings or appointments, preparing or reviewing correspondences, utilizing an office automation software, assisting customers with inquiries and maintaining automated or paper files for the department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
