Duties

You will determine requirements for detailed job estimates for each phase of the project, assigns some to other Planner Estimators and personally performs the remainder. You will service heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. You will develop large scope projects, detailed job plans and bills of materials and prepares man-hour/cost estimates for sub-journeyman level work in various trades. You will coordinate and maintain liaison with users of facilities, requestors, contractors,, engineering personnel, command, etc., to gather information, furnish advice and assistance, or effect mutual accord on scheduling, plans and contracts. Develop complete lists of materials and equipment and estimates material and equipment costs. Visits job site while work is in progress or upon completion to determine whether specifications are adequate, the user requirements are being met, and that work is compatible with existing facilities.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision to serve as a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) planner and estimator for potential new workload projects in the Operations Shop.
