The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over non-supervisory employee's assigned to 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Customer Service Support selection.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 20th Logistics Readiness Sq, ensuring that Customer Support Section complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Represents 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Perform duties related to Processing Transactions, Research, and Integrated Logistics System-Supply (ILS-S) database administration functions.
Manages the Equipment Accountability Element and base level management responsibilities relating to Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS).
Requirements

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Position requires access to firearms. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence may not occupy this position in accordance with the Gun Control Act of 1968, as amended 30 Sep 96.
- Employee must sign DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition.
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, General Supply Series, 2001.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD Air Force, organizations and supply program operations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the supply process. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions in order to provide analytical interpretations and guidance to management officials and other supply specialists. Knowledge of specialized methods and techniques used to analyze and evaluate complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal logistics management procedures or programs requirements. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD Air Force, organizations and supply program operations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the supply process.
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions in order to provide analytical interpretations and guidance to management officials and other supply specialists.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to develop or recommend new or revised local directives, policies, and implementing instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
