The Civil Division, Office of Human Resources is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated human resources specialist to work in a fast-paced team environment. The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated and applies advance human resources payroll principles, concepts, methods and practices to plan and deliver a variety of human resources information system(s) services.

Duties

As a Human Resources Specialist GS-0201-13, your typical work assignments may include the following: - Serves as a technical expert with the payroll systems including EPIC, NFC, and running various reports. - Provides expertise on implementing and administering compensation programs within the Civil Division. - Resolves payroll issues in relation to Time and Attendance (T&As), retroactive adjustments, over or under payments, leave records, and other related matters. - Assists on matters involving statutory entitlement as Interpreted by Federal courts. - Performs extensive troubleshooting or existing payroll system databases. - Serves as an internal consultant on payroll matters for the Division and provides advice to other components in DOJ. - Trains HR Assistants on processing payroll documents. - Serves as the subject-matter expert with respect to policy and regulatory impact upon the agency's payroll programs. - Analyzes and resolves complex issues related to the payroll aspects of Division-wide programs. Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
  • You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Human Resources Specialist (Compensation), (GS-0201-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade. If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. To qualify for the GS-13 Human Resources Specialist position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 performing such duties as: Providing a variety of payroll, compensation, time and attendance advice and support; researching and implementing a wide range of compensation and payroll regulations, directives and policies; extracting data from automated payroll and time and attendance systems to compile reports; updating payroll information in various automated systems; resolving a variety of payroll and compensation issues and applying a wide range of human resources information systems services.
