This position is located in the office of the Facility Management Service Line. The primary purpose of the position is to provide customer service, assist with work orders for the Facility Management Service (FMS). The FMS includes GEMS, Safety, Engineering, Interior Design, Biomedical Engineering, Maintenance, Repair, Operations and Boiler Plant services. Responsibilities include office automation, typing, telephone, clerical support and purchases.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Serves as the initial point of contact for the Facilities Management Service.
Acts as a liaison, providing product and/or service information and resolve any emerging problems the Cheyenne VAMC facility.
Manages incoming calls and customer service inquiries.
Serves as a consultant and advocate for the customers on behalf of the maintenance section.
Provides product or service information to customers.
Implements emergency procedures as situation occurs.
Stores records for reference, numerical, or chronological filing systems.
Monitors requests for maintenance and repair via the automated Work Order system.
Coordinates with the maintenance section regarding the assignment of work orders as requested.
Utilizes basic computer software and printing functions to include Microsoft Office and VISTA to perform assigned tasks.
Acts as an alternate timekeeper and purchasing tasks for the department during the absence of the Engineering Program Support Assistant.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:30pm)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/29/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience tracking, coordinating, updating, editing, compiling and maintaining files and records; clerical and administrative skills such as records management; skill in using computer applications for functions such as word processing, spread sheets and database management; skill in time management, multi-tasking and organization; and communication and interpersonal relation skills sufficient to appropriately and courteously relate to internal and external customers both verbally and in writing..

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.

Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-5 grade level. Education must be in access of the first 2 years of post-high school education to be considered as describes in experience and education. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.

Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office setting throughout the Medical Center and involves the use of safe work habits with office equipment and VAMC fire and safety regulations.
