This position serves as Supply Technician for the Property Management Division within Lifecycle Management of the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. As a Supply Technician, you will provide service lines and other hospital facilities with equipment and material.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates.
Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders.
Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems such as GIP.
Delivers supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring supplies and materials delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
Completes specialty cart preparation and stocking.
Cleans assigned secondary areas (shelves and bins) in accordance with aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.
As needed, assists in other functional areas of the section and performs other duties as assigned.
Receives supplies and material the VA Healthcare System and supported catchment area.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/05/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Supply Technician at the full performance level (GS-5), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience such as providing wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment; Providing information to customers or external stakeholders regarding medical supplies; Utilizing computerized systems including bar-coding and automated inventory systems for the delivery and inventory control of supplies; Delivering supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensures supplies and material are delivered in sterile and operational condition; and recommending revisions in stock levels as needed to supply changes to Inventory Management Specialists. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week.. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school . OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience..
