This position is for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of the Logistics service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care. System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area.
Duties
Supervision
Supervises a team of GS-2005 employees in the distribution area of Logistics.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Develops and executes staff training.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates, Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Hears and resolves complaints from employees, group grievances and serious complaints. Initiates minor disciplinary actions.
Supply Distribution
Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
Monitoring expiration dates, rotating stock to limit outdates and removing items from use as required by outdates.
Performing daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders. Resolving differences between records and physical count of stock.
Inventory Control- Receiving
Working through subordinate staff, directs and oversees the receipt of the supplies and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. The duties include: unpacking/uncrating supplies from shipping cartons; properly storing supplies and material in main/primary inventory areas.
Stores items in accordance with established guidelines, utilizing computerized inventory system, to ensure sterility and integrity of the supplies and material and the data integrity of the inventory management system.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/16/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience assigning work, managing personnel, and addressing issues with departments. Overseeing the overall operation of Supply Distribution of medical supplies for a facility.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
