Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Information Technology support for the District of South Carolina. Typical work assignments will include: Maintaining network, architecture and infrastructure; Configuring, installing, maintaining servers, routers, network, and mobile hardware based systems; Resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; Optimizes system performance and identifies components to improve overall systems performance; Manages accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment; Monitors functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Manages internet servers; Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains customer hardware and software. Provides IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems. Provides user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
• You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level. Specialized Experience: Qualifying experience demonstrates possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Specialized experience is defined as configuration, installation, or management of network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; installing and maintaining compatible database systems. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
