You will serve as a WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will check all documents required for turn-in of wastes to the Industrial Waste Treatment
You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Industrial Waste Treatment Plant and the Bilgewater Treatment System.
You will assist generators when they request help in determining type and amount of chemical analysis is required.
You will operate a tank truck to pick up and transport chemical wastes from generator's site to the treatment plant.
You will be responsible for the proper treatment, dewatering, drumming, sampling, documentation and labeling of the waste until it is shipped off site
You will sample untreated waste after different waste streams are combined and sample untreated wastes periodically to confirm analysis.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to maintain a current valid United States CDL Class B driver?s license with Hazardous Material's Transport endorsement.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license.
Qualifications
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Must have a current and valid United States CDL Class "B" Drivers License with Hazardous Material's Transport endorsement. Certifications must be documented in your resume and attached to your application package.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: WG-07: 1) Assisting in tests on various treatment processes to chemically treat various wastes; 2) Interpreting laboratory analysis and its application to the treatment process; 3) Operating pumps, forklifts, tanker trucks, and safety equipment in treatment plant facilities.

WG-09: 1) Understanding of the treatment process, chemical storage, and laboratory equipment for treating heavy metals, fuel oils both emulsified and free, cyanides, organics, and etc.; 2) Interpreting laboratory analysis and it's application to the treatment process; 3) Utilizing pumps, forklifts, tanker trucks, and safety equipment in treatment plant facilities; and 4) Performing spill containment, clean methods, and use of personal protective equipment.
