About the Position: Serves as a technical expert in one or more areas of telecommunications systems technology, such as data communications networks, telecommunications switching systems, or telecommunications transmission systems. As a technical authority in the assigned area of responsibility, provides expert advice on the design and modification of major telecommunications facilities throughout the CONUS and OCONUS.

Duties

Knowledge of systems engineering, integration, testing, and quality assurance of wireless/wired networks Serve as a reviewer for technical accuracies within the list of materials, network designs, timelines, cutover plans, and travel requests from contractual support. Provides guidance / technical oversight on the design of local area networks or wireless local area networks. Provides guidance and oversight acceptance / operational testing of IT systems or equipment installed to ensure conformance with user requirements. Develops criteria, procedures, plans, or reports for conducting surveys supporting medical networks. Completes IT/engineering projects including planning, development, or technical evaluation of network components. Provides briefings to senior level management or customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management (Practitioner) Certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I).
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; developing and maintaining strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducting evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, and recommending procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and/or regulation. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate. Including experience in LAN and WLAN solutions. Applicants must meet basic eligibility requirements such as minimum qualifications, and other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience in 1)Implementing IT wired and wireless network designs in LAN and WLAN network survey, design, installation, and solution., 2) preparing engineering requirement documents (i.e. statements of work, engineering design plans), 3) leading a team by assigning tasks and providing technical advice.
