This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) enhances the nation's capacity to assist crime victims and provides leadership in changing attitudes, policies and practices to promote justice and healing for all victims of crime.
Duties
Prepares, coordinates and publishes materials that communicate new and important OVC programs and policies.
Reviews and evaluates existing communication plans for disseminating information about changes in program emphasis or content for a wide variety of subjects to related programs.
Presents information to ensure acceptance and understanding among intended audiences. Develops approaches that integrate various aspects of the OVC mission in creating a unified publication and communications strategy. Tracks and oversees the editing and production of publishable materials issued for distribution in conjunction with major OVC programs, exhibitions and projects.
Writes and edits information on victims' rights issues and topics with a broad impact on the direction of programs, such as synthesizing data and information on programs to be presented to Congress and the news media.
Determines the style and format of written and web-based products. Coordinates and negotiates with authors in rewriting material for publication. Activities include all stages of production, from planning and needs assessment through writing and editing text that describes findings in a format usable by targeted audiences. Performs supporting activities associated with these broad phases. Solicits staff input on various electronic and print publications and multimedia products. Coordinates all commercial printing requests and product/material reorders with appropriate vendors and coordinate warehouse deliveries, mailing and other printing logistical activities.
Schedules, designs, plans and makes arrangements for unique events, such as VIP events or exhibit openings of significant size and complexity. Develops long-range calendar of events and coordinates with appropriate agency and outside contacts for site and room assignments. Identifies necessary logistical requirements. Develops an event checklist including deadlines and ensures that all requirements are met. Makes arrangements to meet logistical needs including scheduling/coordination of meeting places, room set-up, decorations, audio/visual equipment including light and sound equipment, food and beverage service, signage, security and services for the disabled. Contacts vendors and/or service providers and negotiates contracts for services.
Plans and conducts pre-event meetings and conducts pre-event site inspections and post-event meetings with the necessary parties.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Managed, edited and reviewed material submitted for publication and directed a communication program designed to reach victims, and victim service providers.
Drafted briefing memos, social media content, and press releases; provided support functions for digital media products, websites, and social media platforms related to victim's right and services.
Managed content, develop and implements strategies and carries out outreach efforts for activities, programs and products dealing with victims' rights and services.
