You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Department of FORCES SURVEILLANCE SUPPORT CTR.

Duties

You will assess adequacy of security capabilities (e.g. Physical security posture) to adjudicate discrepancies and prevent security violations. You will analyze and identify security educational needs of the workforce and weaknesses in the security program to provide solutions. You will administer and manage all aspects of security for FSSC including physical, personnel, information and industrial security; as well as force protection (FP) and antiterrorism (AT) matters. You will analyze all areas of security to resolve difficult and complex security problems. You will review and process requests for personnel security clearances and sensitive job positions. You will maintain continuous accountability of courier cards, instruct and brief designated couriers on duties and responsibilities.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Incumbent must complete formal Military Department-approved Level II ATO course through in-residence, mobile training team (MTT), computer-based or web-based, distance learning instruction IAW DoDI 2000.16.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience maintaining physical security awareness programs to include evaluating, maintaining and/or updating the command Physical Security Plan. Experience providing Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) support and ensuring compliance with government AT/FP standards, developing FP plans and procedures, comprehensive program reviews and assessments. Experience conducting security oversight inspections and reviewing contractors Access Control Plans as they pertain to Industrial Security management, reviewing and approving Operations Security Plans for contracts involving classified, classified and Security Activities information to ensure compliance with DoD Industrial Security Regulations. Experience performing tasks in support of command Operations Security Programs protecting information, personnel, property and material from unauthorized disclosure, theft, assault, or sabotage. Experience maintaining a security awareness and education program including typing security office correspondence and utilizing signs, posters, bulletin board notices and plan of the day security articles. Experience using automated systems such as the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and the electronic-Questionnaire for Investigative Processing (e-QIP) to process personnel security investigations.
