The primary purpose of this position is to perform work involved in the identification, examination, classification, acceptance, and disposition of complex categories of materials and equipment. Perform materials handling activities involving receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping specialized materials and equipment.
Duties
Receive, examine, verify, and identify complex categories of materials and equipment
Maintain an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items
Receive, examine, and determine condition of a wide variety of complex items and materials to be turned in/removed
Monitor special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records
Perform a full range of warehousing duties
Operate electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches
Operate a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles, which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less
Use and maintain tools and equipment
Utilize safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside a warehouse environment and outside in containment areas on year-round basis. Subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, scrapes, falls from ladders, falling materials, injury from equipment in moving or handling materials and equipment and hazards involved in working in proximity to moving equipment such as forklifts, trucks cranes, and conveyor lines. For materials handling duties, employee may be subject to hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted areas; exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas in a mechanical work area; or radiation, toxics, explosive hazardous, or chemical fumes while working hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel-toed shoees, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. When handling hazardous materials, protective equipment is provided.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
