The primary purpose of this position is to perform work involved in the identification, examination, classification, acceptance, and disposition of complex categories of materials and equipment. The position requires the use of fork lift trucks.

Duties

1. Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment. 2. Maintains an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items. 3. Operates electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. 4. Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. 5. Receives, examines, and determines condition of a wide variety of complex items and materials to be turned in/removed. 6. Uses and maintains tools. 7. Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records.

• As required, may train and/or guide lower grade employees.
• The physical requirements require moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or hand truck; walking and standing for prolonged periods of time; and bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy material along conveyor lines.
• Moderate physical effort is required to operate hand and foot controls while driving, turning, or starting the forklift trucks and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing And Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
