This position serves as the primary advisor on all aspects of Healthcare Informatics. The incumbent in this position works as part of a multidisciplinary team to create strategy and consensus to bring agency health and technical activities together in a single informatics strategy to improve healthcare services. This position is located at the the Oklahoma City Area Office, in Oklahoma City, OK and reports directly to the Supervisory IT Program Manager/Chief Information Officer.

Duties

Facilitate and support the evaluation of Health Information Systems and/or associated data to identify and assess clinical quality improvement processes to enable outcomes. Coordinate the adoption of health data standards that facilitate interoperability between IHS, Tribal and Urban facilities, private sector entities, and other information systems. Support patient care and safety by way of integrating people, systems, and processes of IT. Lead and facilitate ongoing health information systems testing, implementation, and evaluation with project teams across the area and in coordination with agency headquarters. Develop performance metrics and other methodologies to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical information system deployment and implementation.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, GS-0601-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Advanced experience in troubleshooting, evaluating, configuring, utilizing and training with health information systems/technologies and associated clinical software; advanced technical ability in performing data input, retrieval, and analysis; extensive leadership (e.g., team lead, project lead, management) experience in informatics responsible for improving the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes in a health care environment. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
