This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Mid-Continent Regional Office in Alton, IL.

Duties

At the full performance level (GS-09) the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Serves as the budget/financial resources coordinator for the Regional Director's Office to include compiling data for use in budget formulations that are needed to cover travel, services, supplies, equipment, mail, professional services, repairs, maintenance, communications, training, and other related ORD expenses. Coordinates and assists in HR Regional Actions to include informing the Regional Director of the status of ongoing personnel actions and recommending appropriate actions or suggests alternatives. Serves as timekeeper for the Regional Director office staff. Review, organize, maintain, and manage confidential files and records. Provide logistical support to the Mid-Continent Regions for a variety of activities, including scheduling and securing facilities for meetings, conferences, and hearings. First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-9, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Experience working with budget and related financial methods, techniques, practices and procedures. Experience with records management and other applicable policies, procedures, and practices, sufficient to assure adherence to requirements, develop annual records, and provide advice to office staff. Experience with responsibilities such as purchase policies, procedures, and requirements such as dollar thresholds and record-keeping; and Experience with staffing issues including hiring and personnel benefits. Must Meet All OR 2 years or a master's or equivalent graduate degree in public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position OR A combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-09 grade level. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education: If this position requires specific educational course work to qualify, or you are qualifying based in whole or part on education, you are required to provide transcripts as proof of meeting the requirements.
