This position is located at US Mint,Headquarters - Protection Directorate. As a Supervisory Police Officer, you will serve as the Deputy Director for Protection with supervisory responsibility for Physical Security and Mint Police; and sharing the direction of all phases of the US Mint Police programs and work.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Assist the Director in directing and overseeing studies, surveys, and inspections that are designed to determine the effectiveness and adequacy of the police force and resolve any protection weaknesses in operations.
Direct the creation, revision, refinement, and modification of regulations and procedures that pertain to protecting Mint assets, property, personnel, and police post orders that are based on survey findings and recommendations.
Assist in oversight for planning, administering, and directing activities that are necessary for the preservation of peace; the protection of life and property; the prevention of crime for the arrest and prosecution of violators of the law; and the proper enforcement of all laws, regulations, directives, and administrative issuances that are applicable to the United States Mint.
Assist in managing all phases of field facilities protection organizations.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Make recommendations, plan, evaluate, develop and manage law enforcement initiatives, physical and personnel security programs; and
- Oversees the designing, developing, and installing protective systems and devices to ensure that sensitive information, protection of resources and high-value assets, equipment, and other material is not compromised, sabotaged, stolen, misused, or subjected to malicious mischief or other acts of willful interference; and
- Develop and implement policies and procedures and ensuring that the policies and procedures are communicated to all personnel within the unit; and
- Manage suitability determination and adjudicating background investigations; and
- Design, develop, plan and manage law enforcement training program.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures and ensuring that the policies and procedures are communicated to all personnel within the unit; and
- Manage suitability determination and adjudicating background investigations; and
- Design, develop, plan and manage law enforcement training program.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines.
This position is designated as emergency essential.
The incumbent must be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies and under severe and austere conditions. The incumbent may deploy for brief periods during a contingency event.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include equipment belt, body armor, riot gear, etc.
All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside [Lautenberg Amendment - 18 U.S.C. ? 922(g) (9)].
Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
