This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Services, Division of Clinical Services, Counseling Services Department, Chinle, AZ. The purpose of this position is to provide direct mental health services as well as function as a member of the adult, adolescent and child treatment teams and to provide consultation to outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, urgent care and emergency department.
Duties
Serves as clinical psychologist providing psychotherapeutic and other psychological services, including family, behavior, individual, play, group, marriage therapies.
Serves as consultant to other physicians, nurses, staff, community agencies and service providers.
Provides psychological testing; prepares reports on mental health referrals necessary for treatment purposes.
Assesses the nature of mental health problems specific to Native American families; evaluates methods used in the treatment of problems.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology. This specialization has additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical Psychology: For this position at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral program (Ph. D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-14:
1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Skilled in professional psychological principles and theories, methodologies and techniques in a variety of settings and circumstances in direct services to patients and/or their families; Able to adapt and develop appropriate evidence-based therapeutic approaches within a context which respects the local cultural norms; Knowledge of diagnostic testing for psychological assessment and evaluation of patients to employ a variety of psychotherapy techniques in clinical treatment; Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Must possess an active unrestricted License in Clinical Psychology from any U.S. State.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
