Duties

In this position, you will Serves as a Coast Guard Sector Command Center (SCC) Operations Unit Watchstander maintaining information management, situational awareness, and command and control over all Coast Guard operations in the Sector area of responsibility.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a Secret clearance.
  • Within 1 year, applicant must obtain Search and Rescue certificates.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.   A. One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates the below: Experience overseeing and monitoring the response to Search and Rescue (SAR) cases in order to minimize loss of life and property at sea; Experience developing search action plans while investigating and coordinating ongoing activities and operations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR); Experience providing command and control over assets in maritime law enforcement operations within the Sector AOR; Experience overseeing responses to reported marine casualties, ensuring proper notification, response, and documentation procedures are executed within SCC responsibilities; Experience analyzing and disseminating a variety of nautical data such as current, tides, weather, and interacting with federal, state, and local government agencies while coordinating response to SAR, Law Enforcement, Ports Waterways and Coastal Security (PWCS), Marine Environmental Response (MER). ORB. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeOR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degreeORLL.M., if relatedORC. A combination of successfully completed equivalent education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
