Duties
In this position, you will Serves as a Coast Guard Sector Command Center (SCC) Operations Unit Watchstander maintaining information management, situational awareness, and command and control over all Coast Guard operations in the Sector area of responsibility.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. - This position requires a Secret clearance.
- Within 1 year, applicant must obtain Search and Rescue certificates.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
A. One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates the below:
Experience overseeing and monitoring the response to Search and Rescue (SAR) cases in order to minimize loss of life and property at sea;
Experience developing search action plans while investigating and coordinating ongoing activities and operations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR);
Experience providing command and control over assets in maritime law enforcement operations within the Sector AOR;
Experience overseeing responses to reported marine casualties, ensuring proper notification, response, and documentation procedures are executed within SCC responsibilities;
Experience analyzing and disseminating a variety of nautical data such as current, tides, weather, and interacting with federal, state, and local government agencies while coordinating response to SAR, Law Enforcement, Ports Waterways and Coastal Security (PWCS), Marine Environmental Response (MER).
ORB. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeOR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degreeORLL.M., if relatedORC.
