This position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division at the Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The position performs sorting and marking soiled textiles and apparel, processing flatwork and roughdry items, assembling carts for delivery, shaking out wet laundry, feeding into the flatwork ironer, catching, using small and large piece folders, and stacking ironed flatwork, and folding roughdry laundry.
Duties
Major Duties:
Rotates through a variety of work sites in the textile care processing facility to meet workload processing or production standards;
Assists in unloading soiled linen bags from the soiled linen;
Shakes out articles of wet linen items checking for knots and damage;
Feeds garments and apparel through spreader feeder;
Folds rough dry items by hand;
Prepares clean textiles for shipment;
Receives soiled textiles and weighs and records soiled and clean weights;
Loads and prepares clean textiles in bulk carts for shipment;
Rotates and maintains a linen distribution system along with other laundry workers;
Maintains a clean and safe work environment;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: This position will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting. You must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to stand and walk consistently perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear PPE for extended period of time as dictated by the work setting. You will be involved with the loading unloading and transporting clean and soiled linen cart weighing up to 700 pounds.
You will be exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linens, patient clothing, and employee uniforms. Is exposed to noise and hot and humid conditions. You will be exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from carts and machinery and minor burns from the presence of steam pipes and the flatwork ironer. You will be exposed to needle sticks and sharps. You may be subjected to weather while performing the duties of the position.
