This position is located at the J6 Automation Support Center (Service desk) at Camp Mabry, Austin, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to function as a technical specialist on issues relating to the wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) systems and their integration in the network. The work involves network administration, optimization and performance in support of the supports the state's wide area command and control integrated network.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment reflecting at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience.
Education achievements are allowed as substitutions for Specialized Experience only. Applicant must meet Basic Qualifications. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree meets the requirements for GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Graduate education must be in one of - or - a combination of the following disciplines: computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
