The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Maintenance Data Base Manager and Computer Systems Security Officer (CSSO) providing technical and administrative assistance for the Unisys 2200/400 Base Level Information Processing defined in AETC 66-11, AFCSM 21, and AFM 171 series.
Duties
Performs all processing requirements for the Integrated Maintenance Data Systems (IMDS), users, and system monitors computer operations such as Automated Scheduling Module (ASM), PMEL, Automated Module System (PAMS) and all other standalone personal computer systems throughout the Maintenance Complex.
Accomplishes a variety of assigned supervisory responsibilities as a first line supervisor; directly supervises five civilian personnel ranging in grade from GS-06 through GS-09.
Serves as an advisor to and assists AETC Engine Regional contractors as data base manager. Responsible for updating AETC Engine Regional Center on a daily basis and identifying/correcting database errors.
Participates in special projects/initiatives and performs special assignments. Identifies and develops program initiatives that satisfy a user need of base-level issues to higher headquarters.
Serves as the unit supply custodian in the procurenment of computer hardware/software and supplies vital in the performance of its mission.

- This is a Lead/Supervisory position which will require a 1 year probationary period.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Micellaneous Administration and Program Series, 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the flow of processing sequences for a lay-large scale Data Base Computer System. This knowledge is used to resolve potential shutdowns or delays in IMDS to input media, control streams, and restart points as well as in scheduling work to allow for data and storage media, input dependencies and priorities. Knowledge of system software (includes software used on small, mini and mainframe computers used by the organization and customer organizations) and system development life cycles.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less than the full amount of specialized experience required but have more than 2 years of graduate level education with a major or subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the functions of the Data Management work centers. a wide range of computer techniques, performance analysis techniques, requirements, methods, sources, and procedures.
Ability to gather facts, analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations on major aspects of a project such as what operations mode, system software, and/or equipmc?t configuration is most appropriate.
Knowledge of state-of-art practices of data automation to advise on alternative approaches in application system development and/or problem related to networks and/,or telecommunication.
Knowledge of technical microcomputer/mainframe integration and communication and/or distributed processing techniques to resolve questions related to telecommunications equipment and connectivity.
Knowledge of system software (includes software used on small mini, and mainframe computers used by the organization and customer organizations) and system development life cycles.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to supervise and manage a subordinate workforce.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
