About the Position:
This position is located in the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) at Fort Sill Oklahoma. Serve as Engineering Technician/Cartographer/GIS Analyst for the Fort Sill DPW. The incumbent applies a professional knowledge and skillset of civil engineering, cartography, geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and aerial photo interpretation for design, evaluation, and construction of maps, charts, and digital GIS products.
Duties
Responsible for the (IGI and S effort), per AR 115-13, under direct supervision from the IGI and S Program Manager.
Design, evaluation, and construction of maps, charts, and digital GIS products.
Serve as Geospatial Technical Advisor.
Independently initiate and develop the Installation Geospatial Information and Services program.
Serve as Geospatial Technical Advisor, assisting multidisciplinary engineers and technicians in coordinating and implementing the IGI and S effort.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical.
- The work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomforts, such as dust, fumes from fuels and or engine exhaust.
- Also, high levels of noise, electrical hazards, and moving machinery.
- The work environment requires the technician to stay alert continually and to take special safety precautions including wearing special protective items of clothing.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Expenses may be authorized.
- Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Integrating geospatial solutions into design programs; 2) Maintaining geospatial software and data standards; 3) utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS); 4) Managing spatial data features; and 5) Executing drafting, design, and Geospatial Information & Services work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
