In this position, you will support Region 3 serving as an Environmental Protection Specialist to ensure compliance with all environmental and historic preservation laws and Executive Orders.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. You qualify for this position at the IC-11 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-09) in the Federal Service.  This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.  Specialized experience for this position includes:  Applying laws, regulations, or executive orders regarding environmental planning or historic preservation such as; National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act, or Executive Order 11988/Floodplain Management or Executive Order 11990/Wetlands Protection; Assisting internal and external stakeholders with technical or administrative environmental or historic preservation related considerations; and Preparing technical reports and presentations to support research findings related to environmental federal laws, executive orders, or regulations. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of graduate-level education leading to such a degree; or LL.M.  OR Combination of education and experience  You qualify for this position at the IC-12 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal Service.  This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.  Specialized experience for this position includes:  Evaluating impacts to environmental or historic resources by applying environmental laws such as the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Wild and Scenic River Act, or Coastal Zone Management Act; Providing technical guidance related to environmental and historic preservation to internal and external stakeholders; and Drafting standard operating procedures, guidance documents, or consultation letters related to environmental or historic preservation compliance.
