VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU The Social Work Homeless Program Supervisor for Kansas City Veterans Administration (KVCA) Housing and Urban Development, VA-Supportive Housing, (HUD-VASH) is responsible for all Homeless Veteran Programs. This position provides a coordination and oversight for the following programs: Grant and Per Diem (GPD), HUD-VASH, Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO), Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV), Safe Have Program, Homeless Emergency Beds, Homeless Case Management. This position also requires outreach and communication with community partnerships adjoining states/countries for homeless service and resources. The Program Supervisor must be able to demonstrate excellent skills in communication and program coordination to achieve the VHA goals of eliminating homelessness among Veterans. The Program Supervisor will assist in planning, establishing and implementing policies and procedures for the different Homeless Veteran Programs. Monitoring daily operations, evaluation and coordination of Social Work staff that are assigned to programs in the Homeless programs. Incumbent will ensure that the social workers and other administrative staff whom they supervise are aware of and adhere to all current VHA directives. This includes but is not limited to meeting all Joint Commission standards, CARF stands, OIG expectations and State licensure standards. The Program Supervisor will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. Incumbent must have Clinical license and practicing at an Advance level. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with evenings, weekends, and/or adjusted tours as needed to ensure quality care to veterans. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English: English language proficiency (written and spoken). Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. Physical standards: All applicants must meet the physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to employment may be required. License. Registration. Certification Requirements: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. (Must provide copy of transcript(s) with application). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Preferred Experience: Clinical License Preferred. Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Workers at the GS-13 grade level: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. (b) Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. (c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. (d) Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. (e) Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. (f) Ability to provide staff training and development. References: VA HANDBOOK 5005/120 PART II APPENDIX G39 SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATION STANDARD GS-185 Veterans Health Administration. Physical Requirements: Must be able to read fine print and view a computer screen; frequently use a computer/laptop keyboard and mouse.; speak and hear well enough to understand, respond, and communicate clearly in person and on the telephone; independent body mobility sufficient to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, reach, twist, push to access the work environment and a standard office environment; manual dexterity and sufficient use of hands, arms and shoulders to repetitively operate a keyboard and to write; and the ability to sit or walk for prolonged periods of time; lift or carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.; regularly drive a government motor vehicle to attend meetings and visit clients, if applicable. Must pass a VA Driver's Physical.
