About the Position: As public information action officer and team lead for the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Conducts the Huntsville Centers public information program in the North Alabama area as well as sites where the center has projects.
Duties
Resolves problems of conflicting or controversial material by direct coordination with the directors of appropriate Centers of Expertise and Corps headquarters.
Plans, coordinates, and implements public information programs for the news media, trade press, stakeholders, customers and the general public.
Develops, manages, and uses various print and electronic media to provide information to public audiences.
Works with HQUSACE and Huntsville Center subject matter experts to develop strategic communication plans using the USACE Strategic Communications Process.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes developing communication strategies and plans to maintain public support, editing and writing materials for specific audiences, preparing command briefings and slides tailored to a variety of internal and external audiences and directing the development and execution of projects through the production of communication tools (i.e. print, visual, web-based, multimedia and video materials).This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
