This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Office of the Chief of Staff (S), Communications and Marketing Division (SC), Public and Media Communications and Visual Services. Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist and is responsible for researching, creating, writing and disseminating sensitive, critical or complex information for external publics on a wide variety of subjects in support of NARA's mission.
Duties
As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, you will:
- Plan, develop, and communicate the organization's programs, policies, and activities on national, regional and local levels.
- Maintain subject matter expertise on the knowledge of current events and potential news items in the organization through liaison with program managers and maintaining awareness of changes in legislation and regulations.
- Develop, prepare, coordinate, and edit feature articles and publications that convey information the general public and specialized target groups relating to the organization programs, objectives and mission.
- Develop and disseminate information directly to the general public and specific interest groups; obtains and analyzes feedback or input from the public and targeted groups to provide, management officials with reaction concerning organization programs and materials.
- Organize work assignments, track work and deadlines, coordinate with colleagues and supervisor to ensure work is accomplished.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiencefor this position includes:
- Providing support and assistance to senior staff in implementing an organization's communications and media relations or public affairs programs, policies, and operations; AND
- Designing informational and educational materials for the promotion of an organization; AND
- Collaborating with a team to manage frequently changing priorities concerning the development and dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
