This notice is issued under direct-hire authority in response to the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) Act of 2022 for which NIST has a critical hiring need.
This announcement will close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the date the first 250 applications are received or 08/29/2023, whichever comes first.
Duties
- Assisting with admin functions such as timekeeping and orientation
- Preparing domestic/foreign/local travel authorizations and vouchers
- Assisting employees with applying for passports and visas for official travel
- Ordering supplies/equipment using the government purchase card and acquisition tools
- Organizing and maintaining office space/facilities
- Coordinating transportation benefits for staff including transit benefits/parking
- Coordinating onboarding of contractors/detailees/other staff
- Entering information into systems to track administrative activities
- Operating and maintaining office automation equipment
- Liaising with NIST HQ and DOC
- Interpreting administrative policies in order to respond to routine inquiries
- Drafting memorandum/correspondence/presentations/materials
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST) in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing administrative support for an organization; preparing travel authorizations and vouchers; drafting presentations or briefing materials; operating office automation equipment; and/or receiving messages and inquiries.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
