This position is located in the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Office of Diversity and Inclusion (CG-127), Washington, DC.

Duties

You will serve as a Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) advisor to the Communications team-CG-092, and communications specialist supporting CG-127, responsible for raising awareness of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), creating, supporting and promoting the Coast Guard's diversity, mission and values; leveraging human potential to enhance mission readiness through planning, developing, executing and evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's D&I communications policies, activities, initiatives, and plans.

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-13, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and expert knowledge of communication theory, principles, methods, practices and techniques inorder to develop new approaches in planning, integrating and evaluating external communications to a diverse audience.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
