About the Position: Supervisor and Health Insurance Specialist for the Third-Party Collection Program (TPCP) Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC). Functions primarily as supervisor and technical coordinator of the TPCP and technical expert in developing, coordinating, and evaluating the Third-Party Collection Program Billing.

Duties
Manage, monitor, and evaluate performance of the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Third-Party Collection Program (TPCP) TPCP interpreting and applying guidelines from higher headquarters.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure appropriate and timely submission of patient claims to third party payers.
Responsible for the accounting, reporting, and processing actions relative to funds billed, collected, deposited.
Resolve questions regarding billing of other health insurances provide to WAMC?s beneficiaries.
Supervise Third Party Collection Program in all aspects of the Business Office, billing patient accounts and insurance companies, and accounts receivable functions.
Provide administrative and technical support, advises on new procedures and requirements, and actively supports implementation of the hospital compliance program for the Uniform Business Office (UBO).
Perform personnel management functions such as planning and revising work schedules and assignment to ensure an even flow and distribution of work.

- This is a Financial Management Level 2 position. Required Level 2 FM certification is to be obtained within 24 months of occupying the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying third party insurance status; sending copies to third party collection for billing purposes; utilizing software programs for third party health insurance billing; and/or providing a variety of statistical data reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
