This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2194000 and is part of the FL 53rd IBCT, National Guard.

Duties

As a, AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WS-885,11, you will perform Quality Assurance (QA) inspections and evaluations of unit or facility performed unmanned aircraft system maintenance and repair, in support of organizational, intermediate, and/or depot maintenance on the entire RQ-7B "Shadow" equipment set assigned to the unit or facility. Inspections are conducted at all stages of work performance from pre-initial entry into shops, random sampling or directed inspections while work is in progress, and final inspections on completed work. Inspections conducted on contracted work are performed in accordance with the Statement of Work and Workload Agreement in support of the Quality Assurance Surveillance Program. Inspections a re conducted on Army unmanned aircraft systems such as, RQ-7B "Shadow" and any components as a part of or separate from the end? items. Inspects aircraft fuselage and airframes, landing gears, tires, power trains, drive trains, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, flight controls, rotor, transmission, instruments, armaments, and/or all systems required to make the aircraft a total mission capable system to include the launchers, Tactical Automatic Landing System, Ground Control Stations, tactical vehicles, generators, environmental control units and all other ground support equipment related to the UAS system. Physical Effort: Requires climbing, standing, stooping, and crouching in uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. Lifts, pushes, pulls, and/or carries objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds. The tactical UAS is typically a smaller unma nned aircraft system; however, most require two-man lift procedures for loading, unloading, and moving UAS. The RQ-7B Shadow weighs approximately 400 pounds with typical mission equipment. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Employee is also subject to working outdoors, occasionally under adverse conditions, i.e., snow, wind, or rain. Protective hearing devices are provided and used when required, especially in high noise level conditions. Employee is subject to contact with dirt, grease, solvents, fumes, and burns from electrical shock; and, may get scrapes and bruises when working in cramped positions. Safety equipment to include, safety toed shoes, face shield, protective aprons, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and/or hearing protective devices, are issued and worn for hazard abatement and are required for use during each actual exposure to hazardous working conditions.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted; E8 & below GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications, experience using of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG11 Must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level; experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; experience performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; experience may include coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
