Duties

As a Financial Technician with the U.S. Attorney's Office, you would be responsible for the following duties: Assisting in the management of travel program (review travel authorizations, provide guidance to staff members on procedures, process vouchers for payment, etc.) Prepares and assist District Staff with travel authorizations and vouchers Examining financial documents for accuracy and compliance Preparing and processing vouchers and invoices for payment Assigning Document Control Numbers (DCNs) to obligation requests Recording funding obligations and accompanying payee information into the automated financial system Preparing and processing vouchers and invoices for payment Verifying validity of invoices and ensure that they are mathematically correct Scheduling payments in accordance with the requirements of the Prompt Payment Act in order to avoid late interest penalties Producing a variety of written documents and reports utilizing a range of office software Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-06: To be eligible at the GS-06 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is defined entering, modifying, retrieving, and deleting routine information in an automated accounting and travel processing system. Processing documents in automated accounting system. Providing guidance to customers regarding requirements and processes. Providing guidance regarding travel, arrange travel and file travel vouchers. Producing a variety of documents utilizing office automation software and accounting or financial management systems. GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-07 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experienceis defined as providing travelers with information on an automated travel system and assistance in making travel arrangements; booking travel as needed; generating travel authorizations and reimbursement vouchers; receiving and reviewing financial documents for accuracy and in compliance with applicable guidelines; assisting other staff in assigning document control numbers according to the appropriate budget category or other funding codes; using automated financial management systems to record funding obligations and/or payee information; assisting higher level staff in providing information on financial regulations, policies, and guidelines. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
