About the Position: This position is in the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir of Behavioral Health, San Diego, California. San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, art studios museums and gardens. A deep harbor is the Home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public.

Duties

Drive vans (passenger and cargo), trucks from 1 1/2 to 5-ton capacity vehicles from 11,000 pounds but less than 22,000 pounds. Transports personnel, articles and materials throughout the organization?s locations, public highways, and for long and short hauls. Ensure cargo is properly located, distributed, secured, and that the vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity. Perform driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations, as required by the workload. Place stock into appropriate storage locations in accordance with instructions and established methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state CDL B W/Passenger endorsement Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to cold, drafty, damp or hot weather while loading and unloading vehicle. Subject to possible injury from falling stock. Subject to bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving vehicles.
