The Program Support Assistant serves in a staff support position for the Risk Management and Patient Safety programs in the Quality Management (QM) Department. Risk Management and Patient Safety are proactive programs concerned with quality of care issues, patient safety, and situations that hold a potential liability or casualty losses for the facility.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Provides administrative and technical support for the quality management service, primarily Risk Management and Patient Safety programs.
Serves as the program expert and direct contact for program staff in administrative areas such as timekeeping, travel, agreements, purchasing/procurement, human resources, files management, correspondence preparation and control, and office automation systems.
Prepares meeting minutes, correspondence, education information and/or patient information.
Develops internal administrative standard operating procedures by researching prior publications, regulations, and recommending new policies and/or changes.
Maintain calendars and recording appointments. Arranges for meetings and small conference administrative details.
Schedules appointments with internal and external customers, reserve conference rooms, and send reminders as needed in support of risk management and patient safety program activities.
Continuously learns business and data software and new technology as it develops and relates to the VA and apply to job specific duties.
Accesses, enters, and retrieves information from the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Joint Patient Safety Reporting System (JPSR), VistA and Vista Imaging, and Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV).
Prepares correspondence with internal and external customers regarding programmatic functions.
Maintains up to date Administrator-level training to support the VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS) for the Service Line.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Compressed/Flexible: Available upon completion of orientation and at managers discretion.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: planning, coordinating, and executing business functions, resource allocation, and production; maintaining fund control points, controlling records, requisitioning supplies; assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance; performing timekeeping, travel, purchasing, file management and office automation tasks; developing statistical data and special reports; interpreting and analyzing results of data or extracting information from various sources; accessing and retrieving information from CPRS, VistA, and VistA imaging, and Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV).

Physical Requirements: This position is primarily sedentary. The incumbent may be required to travel for training, consultation or survey review.
