About the Position: Works as an Airfield Operations Specialist responsible for coordinating and maintaining liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters.

Duties

Receive, review and issue flight plans. Conduct daily airfield inspections. Issue Notice to Air Mission (NOTAM) concerning conditions, changes to facility, service, procedures and/or hazards. Conduct search and recovery for overdue aircraft Provide airfield physical security, monitoring gate access and key control. Arrange appropriate priority for distinguished visitors. Provide airfield information to tenant and transient units.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line drivers license.
• Mission Essential. Required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Senior Leadership.
• May be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty. Must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
• This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
• Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign a DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic medical examinations.
