Duties

Reviews packaging specifications for CCSD managed items for technical adequacy and accordance with DOD and commercial standards. Uses standard/nonstandard logistics data systems to perform research, validation/verification of transportation and/or preservation and packaging. Participates in technical analyses of packaging requirements and related costs for material in current CCSD inventory, entering the inventory, or undergoing distribution. Assists with the daily movement of cargo. Responds to calls on tracer action requests from field units worldwide. Interrogates transportation files for pertinent data, analyzes data, retrieves cargo from the transportation system, and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction. Uses standard/nonstandard logistics data systems to perform research, validation/verification of transportation and/or preservation and packaging.

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.

Qualifications

This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-09 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied packaging principles, concepts, and methodologies and of related supply program operations, when such work requires application of some judgment and analysis to safeguard CCSD products and materials, provide services to customers, and resolve problems in packaging operations and in related program planning and management activities. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods of assigned specializations functions and Hazardous Material packaging. 2. Knowledge of structure, contents, codes, internal and external interfaces, update procedures and uses of automated supply systems and databases. 3. Knowledge of procedures and precautions to be taken in the maintenance and operation of equipment, and in the storage and movement of supplies, to ensure required security, safety and environment standards are met. 4. Ability to communicate in writing and orally; ability to analyze problems and to develop timely and economical solutions. 5. Ability to operate forklift to haul cargo while safeguarding and protecting assets; ability to maintain good working relations. 6. Knowledge of sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance or advice to resolve supply and transportation problems. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
