The incumbent, serving as a Transportation Coordinator at the facility level, collaborates with the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. The incumbent reports directly to the Mobility Manager.

Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to: Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling. Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS). Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Assists the Mobility Manager in planning and directing programs that provide VTS support services functions. Validates program workload and ensures that reporting is accurate. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions. Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management of program; space utilization services. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement,09/12/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Possess the knowledge to make sound and logical decisions, identifying and utilizing all appropriate available resources; Ability to meet and deal effectively with a wide variety of staff from many educational and skill levels, for the purpose of communicating clear instructions and interpretations; Ability to prepare and produce written instructions, and a variety of correspondence; Knowledgeable in regard to consult management, scheduling, admissions, discharge, transfer, and administration with patient processing including diagnostic tests and studies within or outside the medical center; Demonstrated knowledge of the structure of electronic medical records; Proficient in using Microsoft software and other software programs deemed necessary by the Service. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Will be exposed to demanding working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent can be expected to observe high volume of work, a constant need for accuracy, frequent of interruptions and evolving demands due to program changes.
