This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Office of Base Operations, Naval Engineering Department (IPF), Mobile, AL.

Duties

This position primary purpose is to apply a variety of trade practices within an Industrial Production Facility maintenance environment. The selectee is expected to perform duties of a Painter and will equally perform duties of a Welding Worker on lower journeyman levels. 

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • This is a night shift position.
  • A one-year probationary may be required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Practices in Construction, Structure. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out Element). Ability to interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprint reading). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of materials. Dexterity and safety. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
