As a Supervisory General Attorney at the GS-0905-14, you will be part of Office of Federal Operations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will be responsible for directing, assigning, reviewing, planning, administering, and supervising the work of the branch staff attorneys within the Division and the branch support staff and performing professional legal work related thereto.
Duties
Provides legal determination of whether such cases should be accepted by the Commission for decision.
Plans and directs the writing of decisions by subordinate attorneys in cases on assigned.
Interviews candidates for vacant positions and makes recommendations for appointments, promotions, and reassignments involving such positions.
Advises staff attorneys on policy of Commission and substantive law applicable to the statutes enforced by the Commission.
Resolves any complex legal questions involving subject matter jurisdiction.
Works with the Division Director and supervises attorneys (GS-14 and below) and support staff.
Sets priorities; reviews the work of subordinates; and advises, counsels, and instructs subordinates.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
- May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probationary period
- Must have an Active BAR Membership in Good Standing. If selected, must maintain active bar membership in good standing while employed as an attorney with EEOC
- This position is in the Excepted Service
Qualifications
For the GS-14:You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have 3 years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-13 level.
Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.
