You will serve as a Financial Technician at the GG-09 grade level performing duties and responsibilities in support of accounting, budget, and other related financial management work for Naval Intelligence Activity, Financial Management & Comptroller (NIA-FMC).
Duties
You will perform work on various projects, reporting requirements and management initiatives pertinent to the development and improvement of the financial procedures and processes of the Comptroller office.
You will perform work that involves budget administration, accounting related financial management and fiscal/budget technical support.
You will review and analyze commitment and obligation documents.
You will examine financial documents to ensure completeness, uniformity and compliance with command business practices.
You will answer requests and provide advice to employees and supervisors on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
You will support senior specialists in monitoring costs for the purpose of comparing plans to actual expenditures, determining status of commitments and obligations and identifying and correcting financial discrepancies.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position may be subject to polygraph examination.
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
1. Reviewing and reconciling budgetary data captured in accounting systems and financial tools.
2. Supporting senior specialists in monitoring costs for the purpose of comparing plans to actual expenditures, determining status of commitments and obligations and identifying and correcting discrepancies.
3. Gathering, extracting and consolidating financial information and budget documents to prepare reports.
4. Performing financial transactions in support of travel, training, contracts, and civilian personnel payroll.
