This position is located in the Office of the Director and reports to the Director of Training and Program Development. The employee serves as the Training and Program Development Specialist for Community Relations Service (CRS) national training and program initiatives. The CRS's responsibility is to provide assistance to communities to resolve disputes or difficulties relating to discriminatory practices based on race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, religion, and disability.

As a Training and Program Development Specialist (GS-0301-13), your typical work assignments or responsibilities may include the following: 1.Develops, revises, plans, and evaluates internal and external training-related policies, materials, aids, and procedures. 2.Collaborates with DOJ and other Federal agencies, as well as with other CRS stakeholders, regarding emerging, controversial, or complex issues. 3,Develops and implements training plans. 4.Establishes and implements a broad range of training methods and programs. 5.Leads initiatives to conduct skill gaps analyses that assesses current competency proficiency levels and identifies gaps in staff proficiency. 6.Ensures a consistent approach to individual training, employee development, and program delivery. Organizations may also add 'other duties as assigned' once you are hired, based on what is included and allowed by the position description.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Training and Program Development Specialist at (GS-0301-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). To qualify for this Training and Program Development Specialist position at the GS-13 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: 1. Leading training programs/projects 2. Designing and facilitating training workshops 3. Developing training materials You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023.
