About the Position: You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation). Responsibilities include processing a wide variety of clerical and military personnel actions for the organization at Bassett Army Community Hospital, located on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Duties
Update tracking systems to monitor military personnel actions and ensure timely completion.
Review personnel actions and documents to support in-processing or out-processing of Service Members
Speak with customers to explain policies or answer general inquiries.
Use a personal computer database software to input, track, and retrieve data.
Maintain accountability files to comply with Army directives and regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the skills of a fully qualified typist (40 WPM).
- Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
- A pre-employment physical is required, carrying and lifting up to 70 pounds.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience composing correspondence and reports, filing records, and preparing and/o submitting personnel actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resources Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
