This position is located in the Medical Media Service at VA North Texas Health Care System - Dallas VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The Audio Visual Presentation Specialist is responsible for producing visual aids, designing, producing and/or executing computer generated graphics, photographic enhanced media, printed material, logos, artwork; photographing clinical subjects and public relations events producing still photographs and edited video productions; and providing audiovisual support.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** The Audio Visual Presentation Specialist adapts new technology as it is introduced, particularly microcomputer-based systems for audio video support, video production and broadcasting, photographic media, graphics, and videoconferencing; provides audiovisual support for large conferences and certain special events off station; creates research posters that are frequently entered into competition at nationwide and worldwide research conferences; develops, coordinates and implements a vast array of media products. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Taking full responsibility for videoconferencing for specified conference rooms. Performing equipment tests, obtaining and verifying IP addresses, determining most favorable lighting and camera angles, projecting duplex material simultaneously, trouble shooting and correcting image and audio problems, and providing customers high quality image and clear audio thereby ensuring successful video conferences Instructing on equipment training and operation; developing understanding of new equipment by reading operation manuals, computerized training, web searches, and vendor contacts; reformatting, organizing and presenting this information for the purpose of training other staff Creating computerized training and videos that are available to all staff at the VA North Texas Health Care System and affiliates Providing the technical advice and assistance in the development of the specifications and statements of work for procurement Communicating with requesters to clarify their needs for media products and, when necessary, directs media product design to ensure the final product meets the needs of the requester Serving in an audiovisual production capacity or media production and special projects as designated by his/her supervisor Being responsible for the production and broadcasting of specialized videos and graphics over the internet-based broadcast system which is viewed by patients in 40 waiting areas throughout the VAMC Designing art and copy layout for material to be presented by visual communication media and conferring with requesting individual regarding background information, objectives, presentation approaches, styles, techniques and related production factors Creating images to illustrate surgical and medical research procedures, anatomical and pathological specimen, unusual clinical disorders, microorganisms, etc. Developing drawings and diagrams illustrating medical findings for use in publications, exhibits, consultations, and research or teaching activities Creating research posters that are frequently entered into competition at nationwide and worldwide research conferences Using a variety of cameras, photographic media, lighting equipment and related processes to accomplish varied medical/general photographic assignments Using microcomputers to create and arrange images and text suitable for publication, reference and/or Presentation Working directly with end users to facilitate their own creation of computer-generated products Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as an Audio Visual Presentation Specialist in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met. Specialized Experience (GS-09): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-07) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: using various audiovisual equipment such as sound boards, projectors, and computers to do audio manipulation for audiovisual productions and live events; creating simple and complex video productions in the studio and on location; and using both still photography and videography to document and create original media as requested by client. (CLEAR DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must show complete information for each job entry, such as beginning and ending dates of employment, duties performed, and/or total hours worked per week.) OR, Education (GS-09): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. OR, Combination (GS-09): Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education, as described above. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level (i.e., 1 full year of graduate level education) may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-9. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Communications and MediaInterpersonal SkillsMultimedia Technologies IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: Physical demands include walking, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time. On occasion, lifting and transportation of moderately heavy equipment (40 lb.) is required. Employee drives a vehicle to transport material to off-station programs.
