This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Business Operations Division (BOD), Elizabeth City, NC.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for the Business Management System (BMS), and participate in planning, training, facilitation, and execution of various Command-wide Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives utilizing LEAN, Theory of Constraint and Lean Six Sigma concepts.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:*Identifying, analyzing, and making recommendation to resolve conventional problems and situations regarding efficiency, quality of service, and productivity of administrative and technical programs.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Complete BMS Lead Auditor, CPI Concepts, Basic Contracting & FOIA Training
Qualifications
GS-09: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience includes plan, develop, and monitor implementation of plans, policies, procedures, and guidance; perform basic analysis; determining appropriate assignments, setting priorities, and monitoring progress; OR
Completed 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education OR possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); OR
Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
