The position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Office of International Relations and Supply Reduction (IRSR). ONDCP's mission is to promulgate a Strategy that establishes the Administration's policies, goals, objectives, and priorities for the National Drug Control Program and to coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Strategy by the National Drug Control Program agencies.

Duties

As a Policy Analyst (Supply Reduction), GS-0301-13/14, your typical work assignments may include the following: Serves as a technical expert for the analysis and development of policies and programs, the incumbent leads initiatives to reduce the availability of illicit drugs by ensuring effective implementation of the NDCS. Coordinates and oversees implementation of the NDCS and the supporting Classified Annex for the assigned geographic and functional areas of responsibility. Analyzes major policy issues pertaining to assigned areas while highlighting alternative approaches that may resolve problems. Conducts proactive and effective policy coordination with relevant offices and representatives of drug control departments and agencies.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: 1) Conducting analyses of drug control programs and policies, 2) Actively participating in relevant public policy discussions and analyses, and monitoring the development and implementation of relevant drug control activities and programs, 3) Analyzing policy issues pertaining to assigned areas while highlighting alternative approaches that may resolve problems, and 4) Reviewing and providing summaries of pending and proposed actions on drug strategies, legislation and related items. FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: 1) Conducting detailed and broad-in-scope analyses of drug control programs and policies and overseeing their implementation, 2) actively participating in or overseeing relevant public policy discussions and analyses, and monitoring the development and implementation of relevant drug control activities and programs governmentwide, 3) Analyzing major policy issues with national scope that pertain to assigned areas while highlighting alternative approaches that may resolve problems, 4) Reviewing and providing summaries of pending and proposed actions on drug strategies, legislation and related items, and utilizing technical authority to make recommendations to senior leadership.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
