This position is located in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM) The PM Bureau is the Department of State’s principal link to the Department of Defense, and PM provides policy direction in the areas of international security, security assistance, military operations, defense strategy and plans, and defense trade.
Duties
Prepares and manages a database for international security agreements and any necessary supporting documents, many of which fulfill statutory requirements or treaty obligations.
Prepares and arranges travel with the necessary documents and clearances.
Drafts reports findings and processes organization’s structure, staffing level and distribution, occupational competencies, work methods, procedures, and management of office share point programs and share drives.
Designs and maintains spreadsheets for the office’s staffing allocations to onboard strength based for management’s use in making decisions on matters such as resource requests, recruitment priorities, and distribution of resources within the office.
May travel, as directed, to attend negotiations and provide administrative support to the U.S. government delegation for security agreements.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Qualifications

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience drafting memos, letters, and other documents for international security.
Experience maintaining spreadsheets that indicate the office’s staffing allocations.
Experience preparing and arranging travel for the office and legal team.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
